With more than 30 stores and close to 9,000 employees in the state of New Hampshire, Walmart has built a significant presence here in a relatively short period of time. As the company continues to grow in this market, it is increasingly important to build local relationships and educate external audiences about Walmart’s initiatives surrounding community, opportunity, health care and environmental sustainability. Walmart engaged Calypso Communications to create and manage speaking opportunities and schedule meetings with a series of key influencers throughout the state.
Calypso developed a multi-faceted, two-day schedule for Walmart’s Northeast Director of Corporate Affairs to interface with New Hampshire local and statewide media, business leaders, students, legislators, and environmentalists. Through strategically high-level but informal meetings, intimate presentations, and a store tour, Calypso engineered elite opportunities for Walmart to proactively present recent initiatives and results, answer wide-ranging questions, and gain valuable suggestions from key state influencers.
A senior Walmart executive was able to broadly and proactively tell the Walmart story in distinctive, well prepared, and well covered professional settings, forging key opinion leader relationships and squelching misinformation generated by critics. Testifying to the success of these endeavors, Walmart was invited by opinion leaders to come back to New Hampshire to build upon several new working relationships, address additional business and community groups, and participate in state chamber of commerce events and organizations focused on corporate social responsibility.
